Summary of Module

Audiovisual introduces students to the history of audiovisual art, basics and concepts of audiovisual composition and the methods and technique of audiovisual installation. Through a series of context lectures, practical workshops and an individual project, students will learn and experiment with audiovisual media technologies as creative tools for new media art.

Face-To-Face
Term used to describe the traditional classroom environment where the students and the lecturer meet synchronously in the same room for the whole provision.

Blended
A mode of delivery of a module or a programme that involves online and face-to-face delivery of learning, teaching and assessment activities, student support and feedback. A programme may be considered “blended” if it includes a combination of face-to-face, online and blended modules. On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:

L1. Demonstrate specialist knowledge on audiovisual art and understanding of its global context

L2. Apply a critical awareness of the interplay between audiovisual technologies and critical conceptualisations in new media art

L3. Utilise and adapt audiovisual media platforms to undertake and present a process of making a new media artwork

L4. Exercise significant autonomy in adapting and interpreting audiovisual media technologies in conjunction with the existing artistic skills

Learning and Teaching
Students will work individually to plan and develop an immersive media art project. The teaching and learning processes of Immersive Media are designed to introduce a range of concepts and skills in lectures and workshops. Additional learning materials are available on VLE.
